How has education changed in Afghanistan under Taliban rule? Come hear from national experts at our next CEID Research Group Webinar
Join the Comparative Education and International Development (CEID) Research Group for our first webinar of 2022. We are delighted to have experts working on issues in education in Afghanistan join us, with the University of Edinburgh’s Carole Faucher and Giulia Carozzi acting as chair and Lindsey Horner joining as discussant.
Webinar Context:
The US and ally withdrawal from Afghanistan in late August/early September 2021 led to a rapid change in Afghanistan government with the Taliban now ruling. Immediately there were concerns on what this would mean for education in the country, especially girls. Taliban leaders attempted to quickly to provide reassurances, stating that they would not restrict access to education for girls. Yet, when schools reopened latter in September many secondary schools for girls stayed closed. This webinar invites experts working to protect education in Afghanistan to share their insights and experiences on what education is like under Taliban Rule. Joining us will be:
* Abdul Jalal (REACH | ACTED)
* Arianna Briganti (NOVE Onlus)
* Amina A. (NOVE Onlus)
