Vocational literacy plays a crucial role in empowering individuals by combining technical skills with essential literacy and numeracy education. In this BALID Informal Literacy Discussion (ILD) session, we will explore how integrated vocational training programmes, like those implemented in Afghanistan, have transformed the lives of vulnerable communities. With a focus on literacy as a key enabler, the discussion will highlight how equipping individuals with both practical skills and fundamental education enhances employability, business management, and social integration. Join us to learn about the impact of vocational literacy and engage in a thought-provoking discussion on its relevance and sustainability.
Presenter: Mohammad Ali Soroosh, development and humanitarian practitioner and former Country Director of Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe e.V., a Germany based organisation mainly focused on human capital development in western provinces of Afghanistan through vocational training, and current advisor to Organization for Sustainable Aid in Afghanistan / OSAA.
This ILD will be recorded and, subject to the agreement of the presenter, may be made available to BALID members and friends after the event.
