This Webinar will be presented by Aneeta Prem, Founder and CEO of Freedom Charity, who is a leading campaigner in the fight against this abuse which affects many women and girls in the UK today. The practice is so well hidden that most people are surprised and shocked to learn the real truth about FGM.
Aneeta has delivered many successful inter-active school assemblies and training workshops and contributed to magazine articles, and TV and Radio broadcasts on the subjects of FGM, Forced Marriage, Dishonour Abuse and Virginity Testing. She has authored two widely-acclaimed descriptive novels illustrating the issues of Forced Marriage (“But It’s Not Fair”) and FGM (“Cut Flowers”), placing these in the hands of over 65,000 children and young people so that they can be aware of the dangers and warning signs and find support and safeguarding.
Aneeta has addressed the National Governance Council, Teachers’ Unions and, more recently, the Oxford Union, which regularly invites a diverse range of respected leaders and celebrities.
Aneeta will be speaking about:
- How to spot the signs of FGM
- The relevant law
- Individual responsibilities
- Rescue – how to save a life
The law will be discussed with a contribution from a lawyer experienced in advising victims of abuse.
