RTI International has launched two new how-to guides on Language of Instruction:
- Language of Instruction Basics – an overview guide that is intended to provide an orientation on core concepts and issues related to language of instruction.
- Practical Language Choices for Improving Foundational Literacy & Numeracy in sub-Saharan Africa – a companion guide which provides a practical roadmap for navigating LOI issues.
Both guides can be found on the Science of Teaching website: bit.ly/scienceofteaching
For those interested in exploring the topic further, we will be hosting a virtual roundtable on November 16, 2021 at 9am-11am EST. This interactive session will explore the subject in more detail and is targeting participants who are interested in sharing and learning about two important areas in particular:
- How to support learners in the classroom who have a different mother tongue language to the language of instruction.
- How to build consensus for language of instruction policy decisions with different stakeholders.
Don’t forget to read the guides before you attend as background to the discussion.
