Speaker, Dr Paula Leal, Universidad Tecnológica Metropolitana

This seminar discusses conceptualisations and practices of resilient higher education, focusing on the Latin American and Chilean contexts. In the context of environmental and political crisis and in the face of socioeconomic and technological inequalities in the region, the seminar emphasises the need for higher education that equips students to adapt, resist and view adversity as an opportunity. By embracing Paulo Freire’s critical consciousness, empowerment, and hope principles, the discussion explores how higher education could create learning and coexistence environments that foster resilient educational communities empowered to transform society. The seminar also presents recommendations for how higher education can enhance the development of resilience.

This will be an in-person event with the option to join online.

This will be held in Donald McIntyre Building, Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge, CB2 8PQ.
