15 March 12:00-13:15 GMT
The SAARE Network Seminar series aims to encourage exchange between scholars from all career stages, varied disciplinary traditions and methodological positions, pivoting on deepening our collective understanding of educational research in the South Asian context.
The Seminar Series will present a series of seminars by scholars working in and on South Asia to investigate the contextual distinctiveness of researching a region rich with social, cultural, political and historical diversity. We bring into focus how methodological and ethical issues need to be interpreted and privilege research emanating from within the region.
Our inaugural session is with Professor Padma Sarangapani, Professor of Education and Chairperson of the Centre of Excellence in Teacher Education, Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai titled:
‘Researching Education in South Asia: some axiological, epistemological and ontological concerns’
The session will be held on zoom, and we will share details with registered participants. In the interest of zoom safety, please do not share login details.
More about the Network
The South Asian Approaches to Researching Education (SAARE) Network is a network that seeks to investigate the distinctiveness of educational research on, within and across South Asian contexts. It deliberates on the conceptual framings, methodological practices and contextual complexities of researching South Asia. Its foci include critically engaging with the often-hegemonic theories and methodologies of the Global North, ethical dilemmas in contextually driven research practices, the institutional landscapes of research, the agendas of international development, and the overall nature of the relationship between research, policy and practice. The network aims to bring together interdisciplinary researchers focusing on South Asia, located both within and outside the region through a variety of platforms.
